QC/T 1218-2025 “Dump Semi-Trailers” to Be Implemented — Driving the Industry Toward Safety and Standardization

On November 1, 2025, QC/T 1218-2025 Dump Semi-Trailers will officially come into effect. This is China’s first comprehensive industry standard for dump semi-trailers, covering technical requirements, testing methods, inspection rules, safety regulations, and more. It applies to all types of dump semi-trailers used in road transportation.

The standard clearly defines the compliance requirements for configurations such as installing oil pump power take-off units (PTO) on tractors and power units on trailers. It sets strict demands for safety performance, operating specifications, and quality control. These include definitions and technical parameters for six main categories—rear-tilt, side-tilt, conveyor-belt type, etc.—and core performance indicators such as maximum lifting angle, unloading time, and residual material rate (e.g., rear-tilt dump semi-trailers must have a lifting time of no more than 3 minutes, with normal unloading residue not exceeding 0.2%). It also mandates safety devices such as anti-rollover systems and lifting limiters, while standardizing over 20 testing methods, including hydraulic system pressure tests and reliability tests, to create a full-chain framework from “design – production – inspection – operation.”
