General Guidance
If a vehicle equipped with an air suspension system experiences an unexpected failure during travel—such as leakage in the control pneumatic circuit or malfunctioning valves—and on-site repair isn’t possible:
If the air springs are underinflated, first check and ensure the rubber portions of the air springs are smooth and not bearing any undue stress.
Drive the vehicle away from the fault location at a speed under 30 km/h (maximum allowed distance is 50 km). If reaching a repair facility isn’t feasible, contact a maintenance station. zonxin.cn
Notes:
Increase maintenance frequency when operating under harsh conditions.
During any welding work, protect the leaf springs, air springs, and rubber hoses from sparks and welding slag.
Never connect the welding machine’s neutral line to the brake drum, hub, or rim to avoid bearing damage.
Welding on the guide leaf spring is strictly prohibited.
3.1 Air Suspension System Maintenance and Servicing
No. | Component | Inspection Items | Initial Load Check | Monthly | Quarterly | Half-Yearly |
1 | All air suspension system components | Visual inspection for damage and wear. | ★
2 | Air springs & pistons | 1. Clean after driving in harsh conditions (e.g., asphalt in summer, muddy roads). 2. Check for surface cracks, wrinkles, foreign objects; replace if damaged. 3. Ensure bolts are tightened. 4. Maintain pressure ≥ 0.6 MPa.
3 | Pneumatic control system | 1. Keep air filter clean and intact. 2. Check airtightness of valves and pipe fittings. 3. Inspect valve fasteners for damage and tightness.
4 | Shock absorbers | 1. Check upper and lower mountings; tighten per torque spec. 2. Replace if leaking. | ★
5 | Axle & guide leaf spring assembly | 1. Check U-bolt tightness; retighten per sequence (see Fig. 17). 2. Inspect spring seat and clamp plate for welding cracks. | ★
6 | Guide leaf spring bracket, leaf springs, connectors | 1. Check rubber bushings: move trailer or pry near bolts to test. 2. Inspect wear plates; replace if damaged. 3. Tighten self-locking nuts per torque spec. | ★
7 | Limit steel cables | Inspect cables and accessories; replace if damaged. | ★
8 | Air reservoirs | 1. Check bottom drain valve; replace if clogged. 2. Inspect biweekly in frosty/humid weather. | ★ | ★
9 | Air suspension system height setting (H) | 1. Periodically verify H matches factory setting. 2. Refer to controller instructions for adjustment. 3. Trailer manufacturers must document H value in user manual.
10 | Height control valve maintenance | 1. Remove obstructions around valve. 2. Maintain air supply; avoid using grease. 3. Drain air tanks regularly; use air dryer in cold climates.
11 | Pressure relief valve maintenance | 1. Drain reservoir regularly. 2. Check valve during brake inspection. 3. Valve opens at 0.65 MPa, closes ≥ 0.53 MPa; replace if malfunctioning.
